Linen Shirt Holy Sand

Lightweight linen construction in a natural raw cream tone, with a dry, irregular texture. Relaxed long-sleeve silhouette with mandarin collar and eight-button front closure. Fine tonal graphics are silkscreen printed across the front and back, combining a hand-drawn fortified city, heraldic symbols, inscriptions and ornamental elements. The low-contrast printing allows the artwork to appear almost embedded into the natural surface of the linen.

Inspired by medieval rural mysticism and ancient hand-drawn maps of kingdoms, territories and fortified cities. The composition references manuscripts in which geography, religion, mythology and political power existed within the same visual system. Faded lines and symbolic elements give the garment the appearance of an aged document or forgotten map. A study of territory, belief and the imaginary worlds constructed through early cartography.
