Developed in collaboration with Infinite Archives, the Chicago-based project founded by Easy Otabor, the artwork explores hunger as one of the most primordial instincts shared across cultures and human history. The graphic references the hunting harpoon, among humanity’s earliest tools, as a symbol of survival, intelligence and the instinct to create objects in response to necessity. Through Infinite Archives’ approach to cultural memory and Untitled Artworks’ exploration of historical symbols, the garment connects an ancestral object with contemporary visual culture. A reflection on survival, making and the fundamental experiences that connect people beyond geography and time.
